Avatars
Voki Classroom (https://www.voki.com/classroom/login_status.php)
Voki and Voki Classroom allow users to create oral avatars. Avatars would be created by each student and would be individualized. Voki can be used for oral tests in foreign language classes, to help students proofread their work, or to help students practice their oral speaking skills. Students speak into the computer instead of in front of the class, which would help them build their confidence and hear if they are speaking correctly, though it does not give them the face-to-face experience. Voki Classroom may be useful if students will be giving oral presentations and need to work on their speaking skills. Students could use their avatars and practice speaking, and the teacher can have them complete speaking assignments and give students feedback before the actual presentation. Students can also use this software to listen to their written work if they need assistance proofreading.
Mangatar (https://mangatar.framiq.com/)
You can create avatars of yourself, your friends, imaginary people, etc. Each character you create becomes a card with HP (life), boosts, and skills. You can buy items for your character cards as well, to make them more powerful. You can challenge other players to improve your own characters. You can also become friends with other users and talk online. Students can battle and they can see their strength, agility, stamina, etc. increase or decrease. This would be more of a social application. It would be good for teaching Internet safety, and expanding their imaginations. They could also learn how to maintain certain skills while battling, such as stamina, which then relates back to them saving stamina when playing a sport or working out.
